🏡 Village Building Guide - Scraps & Upcycling

Bring scraps home and spend them on the village. Collecting debris from the lost civilization to "build, decorate, and expand a cozy village for your flock" is the official description of the loop — the village is the game's economy, hub and reward screen in one. No gold, no shops: what you carry back is what your community becomes.

• Lamp → a cozy house for a Merlie family.
• Slate → a huge map for the whole community.
• Ice cube tray → a store room for the tribe.

The two village verbs come as a pair in the official description: accommodate your Merlies, and train them to get ready for exploration. Housing turns rescues into residents; training turns residents into explorers. Skipping the first stalls the second — build the home before you plan the next rescue.

The Merlies is openly a solarpunk game — a bright take on the post-apocalypse where "wacky constructions and clever upcycling are the key to bringing comfort and happiness to your tribe". Decoration is not filler here; it is the point. The launch build's full building catalog and any happiness systems will be documented in the village hub after September 29 — the loop above is the officially confirmed core.
