Village Settlers Character Guide

Biome: The Village

Squad Role: Village life

Known For: Living in upcycled homes

The Birds Who Stay Home

Not every Merlie joins every expedition. The villagers are the birds that settle in the houses you build — a cozy home out of a lamp, a store room out of an ice cube tray — and the official description names accommodating your Merlies and training them as core village activities. Settlers are the reason exploration matters: every scrap run ends as someone's new front door.

Accommodation and Happiness

The village-building loop is the game's reward system: wacky constructions and clever upcycling are "the key to bringing comfort and happiness to your tribe", per the official store text. How settlers react to specific decorations will be documented after launch — the demo updates showed the village growing, but a full happiness system has not been detailed yet.

Build before you recruit: a rescued Merlie needs somewhere to live before the next rescue makes sense.

From Settler to Explorer

The boundary is porous — settlers train to get ready for exploration, the official wording goes. The training ground you build in the village is where fragile birds become expedition-ready ones, feeding back into the flock that brings home the next haul of scraps.
